Really nice little amp!

I got this because I quickly needed an inexpensive amp for practice sessions after my old one stopped working. I found a compatible AC/DC adapter and it sounds way better than I expected. It definitely isn't kidding when it says it can get loud, and the adjustment between this and the knobs on my guitar is all the control I need for now. And having the overdrive be a knob rather than a switch is a very nice feature! It might even sound better than the Marshall micro mini type amp that's twice the price, although don't quote me on that. I haven't tried it with the 9 volt battery, but it works very well with the DC input. Just be careful to find a compatible one that matches the markings molded in! (The wrong specs for DC adapter can blow it up entirely.)

Great Practice Amp Especially for the Money

The Danelectro Honeytone is a fantastic practice amp. I have been using it with my 90s Gibson SG and I think it sounds great for what it is. It is powered by a 9-volt battery or a standard 9-volt pedal adapter. It even has a belt clip so you can be mobile with the thing. I've used this while relaxing in my bed in my studio apartment and I like how I can easily get low volumes to keep from annoying my neighbors. I've used this at louder volumes as well, having a friend jam with it while I play synths through studio monitors and the Honeytone really stands its ground. The controls are limited but effective. There's volume, tone, and distortion. The clean tone is very clean but I've opted to keep the distortion up a bit and additionally drive this with a Behringer Super Fuzz. It sounds great for my needs but I'm more of a serious synthesist and just a casual guitarist. Hands down I would recommend this to anyone in an apartment. After all how loud can you go without disturbing your neighbors. I definitely expect to be using this for a long time.

Nice little portable amp for the money. Sounds good.

Its Good

It's a good little amp, but I actually wish that it had a "cleaner" sound after you max out the volume. Even without the "over-drive" turned on to help get the "grindy sound" when you need it, there should be a "cleaner" sound, even when the volume is maxed out. I still like it as a powerful little mini-amp.
